This multichannel interview attempts to capture the history, thoughts and personality of Rafael Madou-Madou, a Congolese refugee now living in Buffalo, NY. The work also presents and investigates a series of other wide-reaching and interrelated issues regarding representation, identity and subjectivity. Through the recording of oral history and dialogue, his experiences are captured with the aim of creating and commenting on the possibility of the production of divergent modes of history. Motivated by the different forms of representation, the piece is a portrait of a trilingual interview (English, French and Spanish) for which the interviewee is phrasing the responses in multiple languages. Guided by the confusion of translation, the project is presented as a 3-channle physical installation with fragmented subtitles.

"There will be things that you won't understand" es una instalación de tres canales que busca capturar la historia, pensamientos y personalidad de un refugiado Congolés que ahora vive en Búfalo, NY. Este trabajo también presenta una serie de problemáticas relacionadas a la representación, la identidad y el posicionamiento subjetivo. Mediante el registro de la historia oral y el dialogo, fue posible capturar las experiencias subjetivas de un inmigrante con la intención de crear modos divergentes de historia. La pieza, motivada por diferentes formas de representación, es el retrato de una entrevista trilingüe (inglés, francés y español), para la cual, el entrevistado parafrasea respuestas en múltiples idiomas. Guiado por la confusión de la traducción, el proyecto es presentado con subtítulos en los tres idiomas.
